Philippe Welti

Philippe Welti (born March 6, 1949 in Zurich ; resident in Zurich and Zurzach ) is a Swiss diplomat .

Life

Philippe Welti studied until 1979 at the University of Zurich , Licentiate of Philology and Law . In 1979 he joined the foreign service. From 1981 to 1984 he was employed in the Directorate for International Organizations. From 1985 to 1988 he was the embassy secretary in London. From 1989 to 1992 he headed the legal service of the then Directorate for Administrative Affairs and Field Service. In 1993 he became deputy head of department in the Political Directorate. From 1996 to 1997 he was employed in Bonn. From 1998 to July 9, 2004, he was employed at the General Secretariat of the DDPS , where he headed the Directorate for Security Policy. From August 1, 2004 to January 15, 2009 he was Ambassador to Tehran , then until the end of 2011 Ambassador to New Delhi . He then retired as a diplomat. Today he works as a strategic advisor.

Philippe Welti is the son of Arthur Welti , second nephew of Albert J. Welti and great-nephew of Albert Welti .

He is married to the former SVP - General Secretary and later General Secretary of the Bergier Commission Myrtha Welti and has three children, including the singer Sophie Hunger . He lives in Zurich.
