Career
Andreas Engqvist began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth division of Spånga IS, for whose first team he was active in the fourth division 2 from 2003 to 2005 . He then moved to Djurgårdens IF , for whose professional team he ran from 2005 to 2010 in the Elitserien , the top Swedish division. He was then ordered to the 2010/11 season by the Canadiens de Montréal , with whom he had received a three-year contract in July 2009, to North America. There he played in his first year but almost exclusively for Montréals farm team Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League , while he only played three games in the National Hockey League for the Canadiens .
The 2011/12 season began Engqvist in the NHL team of the Canadiens de Montréal, before he was sent back to the farm team to the Hamilton Bulldogs in late October 2011.
From June 2012 Engqvist was at Atlant Mytishchi in the Continental Hockey League under contract and was assistant captain there. Due to Atlant's financial problems, Engqvist and Ondřej Němec were handed over to HK CSKA Moscow in December 2014 for financial compensation . He played 15 KHL games for CSKA before moving to Salawat Julajew Ufa in June 2015 . At Salawat he played 68 KHL games before he was released from his current contract in December 2016.
It was only in May 2017 that he found a new club in Djurgårdens IF.
