Philippus Church (Berlin-Tegel)

The service was held in the “Waldidyll” settlement in the Schwerinhaus of the city mission at Sterkrader Strasse 23 because the Tegel village church was too far away. Since 1948 parishioners had started to collect money for the construction of a church in Tegel-Süd, in 1954 a church building association was founded and on August 11, 1954 the parish council of Tegel decided to build a parish base in the "Waldidyll" settlement. On April 8, 1956 was the foundation stone was laid and on 7 April 1957 was the inauguration of the church instead. The construction costs of the church and the other rooms in Ascheberger Weg amounted to 180,000 marks . The organ was completed on October 11, 1958 . Since the Reformation Day in 1967, the church has been called the Philippus Church (after Philipp Melanchthon ).
Building description
The church consists of a traditional basic structure of a simple rectangular hall, which is covered with a gable roof. Her side is set halfway in the hall of the bell tower; he also has a gable roof. In its open bell cage hangs a ring made of three bronze bells , which was cast by Petit & Gebr. Edelbrock in 1957 .
