Grace Christ Church
The Protestant Gnade-Christi-Kirche ( ), a hall church designed by Hansrudolf Plarre , is located at Tietzstraße 34 in the Berlin district of Borsigwalde in the Reinickendorf district .
history
On October 1, 1925, the Evangelical Church Community of Borsigwalde became independent, previously it belonged to the community of the village church in Wittenau . Due to the inflation after World War I , all money donated to build a church had become worthless. In 1928, therefore, only one barrack could be acquired, which was converted into an emergency church . It was provided with a roof turret and a vestibule. The last service was held in it on April 11, 1969. It was then torn down. On November 8 of the same year the foundation stone was laid for a new community center next to the youth home and kindergarten built in 1960 by the same architect . The inauguration of the church took place on December 20, 1970, and was named Gnade-Christi-Kirche on December 4, 1973.
Building description
The structure of the square central building is made of reinforced concrete - skeleton construction, its supports and beams are visible outside and inside. The flat roof is covered by the upper beams, which form an attic . The walls are made of white brickwork . The interior is evenly lit by a few windows. Next to the church hall is the community hall, both of which are connected by large doors.
The small chapel , accessible from the outside as well as from the church hall, is intended to commemorate the dead and suffering of the wars. In a wall niche in the form of a cross there is a Corpus Christi.
The interior of the church is diagonally aligned despite its square and thus centrality. Altar , pulpit , ambo and the organ built by Dieter Noeske are in the area of the chancel facing east. The architect thus corresponded to one of the early attempts at reform of the Wiesbaden program , which recommended the placement of the organ and singer stage in the face of the community. The copper baptismal font forged by Hans-Dieter Stage stands towards the center of the church . The crucifix of the former barrack church, a work by the wood sculptor Ernst Gustav Jaeger, is located above the altar in the winter church.
Bell tower
The access to the church leads through a portal-like campanile made of two concrete slabs . A plaque on it refers to the Protestant martyr Adolf Clarenbach . The bell house sits on the two concrete discs , in which hangs a ring made of three bronze bells, which was cast by Petit & Gebr. Edelbrock :
