Phuket FantaSea

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Phuket FantaSea is a show event and amusement park in Kamala on the island of Phuket in southern Thailand . It describes itself as the Nighttime Cultural Theme Park , because the theme park and restaurant can only be used before the evening show begins - i.e. to get in the mood for it - to which everything is tailored. In terms of its concept, it corresponds roughly to that of a number of German musical theaters . The two show temples in Thailand based on a similar idea : Sam Niramit in Bangkok and Alangkarn near Pattaya were added later.

history

The operating company of Bangkok's Safari World built the facility, which opened on February 6, 1999. A theater , a restaurant and the show and theme park were built on an area in the immediate vicinity of the beach (“Kamala Beach”) for 3,500,000,000 Baht (around 80 million euros) .

Attractions

The center of the complex is the Palace of the Elephants theater building , the front of which is built in the manner of a temple in the Khmer style supported by a number of life-size elephant statues - something like an Angkor built on elephant back . It looks incredibly impressive - especially in the late evening and in splendid lighting - but is ultimately just an illusionistic backdrop . The auditorium has seating for 3,000 people and is state-of-the-art in terms of lighting , sound and acoustics .

Here, six days a week, a 75-minute show entitled Fantasy of a Kingdom is shown, which presents Thai culture in the aesthetics of modern musical and illusion theater. This culture illusion show offers an overview of Thai culture and history in different scenes and is enriched with dance , music , acrobatics , stunts and many other art forms . The highlights of the show are undoubtedly those scenes in which a good dozen elephants are presented on stage and integrated into the living images . (The elephants were originally kept in Bangkok's Safari World before they were brought to Kamala to take part in this show.) The event also features numerous technical effects, pyrotechnics and special effects .

The quality of production is well above that in Alangkarn ; it has since been overtaken and even overtaken by the show Siam Niramit, which has been shown in Bangkok since 2005 .

The theme and amusement park, known as the Festival Village , offers everything from the simplest fairground amusements according to Thai taste to small shows and musical entertainment to elephant rides and feeding everything to get in the mood (even for the little visitors) for the evening show. Handicraft , souvenir and merchandising shops (a so-called shopping village ) are not missing, as is a restaurant with 4000 seats.
