Safari World
Safari World ( Thai : ซาฟารี เวิลด์ ) is a private animal and amusement park in the district of Khlong Sam Wa in the northeastern border area of Bangkok . The park has claims to be the largest open zoo ( Open Zoo ) Thailand , in which a plurality of different species and hundreds of species in natural conditions can move their regions of origin adapted natural landscape free. However, some of these animals are also kept in cages or have to perform tricks for the audience. The entire facility has a size of almost one square kilometer (800,000 square meters).
history
The facility was opened on February 17, 1988 and initially had an area of 1,200 Rai for the Open Zoo and another 450 Rai for a bird park . New and changed attractions are offered every year.
The facilities offered as an amusement park include, for example, the Jungle Cruise - a wild water slide through an African and Asian jungle - and a Jungle Walk , which leads the visitor through a veritable labyrinth of cages and aviaries . criticism
Orangutans living in the park are trained against species-appropriate behavior to entertain the audience on wheels, with drums or through the orangutan boxing show . In the latter attraction, the animals must wear sports pants and boxing gloves to compete against each other in the ring as Thai boxers . The actor Hannes Jaenicke made the fate of these animals and thus the park known to a wide audience through a ZDF documentary.
Within six months, elephants are trained to perform a kind of tightrope walk on a tightrope, sometimes on three legs.
