Pier Damiano Peretti
Pier Damiano Peretti (* 1974 in Vicenza ) is an Italian organist and composer .
Life
Pier Damiano Peretti studied organ at the conservatory in his hometown with Antonio Cozza and graduated in 1996 with a diploma. Masterclasses took him to Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini , Harald Vogel , Jean-Claude Zehnder , Jacques van Oortmerssen and Rinaldo Alessandrini, among others . He also studied composition with Wolfango Dalla Vecchia .
In 1996 he moved to Vienna, where he continued his studies in concert organ at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, initially with Herbert Tachezi and from 1998 with Michael Radulescu . He graduated with distinction in 2002. An Erasmus stay in Hamburg with Wolfgang Zerer and Pieter van Dijk as well as further composition studies as part of the Darmstadt summer courses rounded off his training. From 2002 to 2009 he taught as an organ professor at the University of Music and Theater in Hanover before he was appointed professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in March 2009.
His compositions - for and with organ, chamber music , vocal works with an instrumental ensemble - take up the most varied of stylistic devices and primarily revolve around spiritual themes.
Awards
Peretti is a prizewinner at the international organ competitions in Bologna, Pretoria, Innsbruck, Toulouse and Hamburg. He also won first prize in the 1999 S. Albans organ competition.
In addition, he has also received various composition prizes, including that of the international Saarlouis organ composition competition.
For Mane nobiscum - Missa for Easter as well as "in recognition of previous achievements and for the direct promotion of further artistic creation" he was awarded the Outstanding Artist Award for Music 2015 by the Austrian Federal Chancellery .
