Pierre-Yves Michel

Pierre-Yves Michel (born February 17, 1960 in Roanne ) is a French clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Valence .

Life

Pierre-Yves Michel received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Lyon on June 30, 1991 . After various activities in parish and school pastoral care, from 1999 to 2003 he was episcopal vicar for catechesis and the catechumenate as well as responsible for youth pastoral care . Since 2007 he has been Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Lyon.

On April 4, 2014, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Valence. The Archbishop of Lyon, Philippe Cardinal Barbarin , donated him episcopal ordination on May 29 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Metz , Jean-Christophe Lagleize , and the Bishop of Oran , Jean-Paul Vesco OP .
