Pierre Benoit (1932)

Pierre Benoit (born July 16, 1886 in Albi , Département Tarn , † March 3, 1962 in Ciboure , Département Pyrénées-Atlantiques ) was a French novelist .

Benoit made his successful debut in 1918 with his novel Koenigsmark ; this work is considered one of his most important. It was filmed four times by 2010. His novel L'atlantide was awarded the Grand Prix du Roman of the Académie française .

In 1929 Benoit was appointed President of the Société des gens de lettres and with effect from June 11, 1931 he was accepted into the Académie française ( armchair 6 ) as the successor to the late playwright Georges de Porto-Riche .
