The Piz Daint is a mountain west of the Münstertal in the Swiss canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. The mountain formed the natural border between the former communities Tschierv and Müstair .
In the west lies the remote Val Mora valley , which drains to the north into the Inn and thus into the Black Sea , the water of which flows briefly over Italian territory and returns to Switzerland via Spöl . On the east side, the Val Müstair drains south via Rambach and Etsch into the Adriatic Sea.
Surname
Originally the mountain was called Piz d'Aint, Romansh for "Inner Summit". This designation is relative to the neighboring Piz d'Ora to the east , Romansh for "outer summit".
The spelling Piz Daint has been in force since the late 20th century .
Routes to the summit
The Piz Daint can be reached via various simple mountain hiking trails to fairly difficult routes. The mountain is a popular ski and snowboard tour destination.
