David Pizanti ( Hebrew דוד פיזנטי; * May 27, 1962 ) is an Israeli former soccer player and was most recently chief scout of the first division club Maccabi Netanja .

Career

Pizanti's football career began in Hapoel Hadera's youth . At the age of 15 he came to Maccabi Netanja , where he won his first championship title at the age of 18. The defender was able to quickly earn a regular place in the first team. As recently as 2010, he was referred to on the club's website as "one of the greatest left-back defenders in the history of Israeli football and in particular in the history of Maccabi Netanya".

1985 1. FC Köln brought the Israeli into the Bundesliga . In the two years at FC he experienced three different coaches. Brought in under Johannes Löhr , he was involved in the association's greatest international success to date under his successor Georg Keßler . In 1986 the Cologne team reached the final of the UEFA Cup against Real Madrid . In the 1: 5 in the first leg at the Bernabeu Stadium , Pizanti was not used. For the 1987/88 season he signed a contract with the English first division Queens Park Rangers , where he made his debut in the First Division in October 1987 . In the two seasons he came only to 22 league appearances for QPR and went back to Maccabi Netanja in July 1989. Here he played for another seven years and ended his professional career at the age of 34 due to injuries.

Pizanti made his debut in the national team in a friendly game won 3-2 on February 15, 1983 against Belgium . In the same year Piza - so his nickname - was used in the qualifying round for the 1984 Olympic Games ; Among other things, he ran against the German Olympic selection in Wuppertal . As a coach, he was primarily active in the youth department of Maccabi Netanya. In the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons he was co-coach of Netanya's U-23 team; In the summer of 2008 he became assistant to the new coach Lothar Matthäus as chief scout .
