history

The orchestra's roots go back to November 12, 1951. On this day a music train of the Bavarian riot police was founded in Rebdorf near Eichstätt . The first public appearance was in December 1951 on the occasion of the swearing-in of newly hired police candidates in Fürstenfeldbruck . Since the performances increasingly concentrated on the state capital and the Upper Bavarian region, the orchestra was relocated to Munich in 1954 and has since been renamed the “Music Corps of the Bavarian Police”. Since 2010 the orchestra has had its current name "Bavarian Police Orchestra". Originally 30 police officers developed into a concert band consisting of 45 trained professional musicians.

tasks

The Bavarian Police Orchestra contributes to the public relations work of the police. Every year it plays around 50 benefit concerts for social, charitable and cultural purposes throughout Bavaria. As part of these charity events, the orchestra works with associations, foundations and cultural and tourism offices. In this way, the Bavarian Police Orchestra contributes to the image cultivation, closeness to the citizen and recruiting of the Bavarian police. At the same time, the proceeds are used to support social, charitable and cultural charitable purposes. Thanks to its high artistic quality and an extensive repertoire with special arrangements and compositions, the symphonic wind orchestra has made it its goal to appeal to a wide audience.

In addition, the Bavarian Police Orchestra is used at official events and by the Bavarian State Government and the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior for representative occasions.

Concerts and repertoire
