action

The Christmas business is in full swing and the daily income in the department store on the market is increasing day by day. In the middle of the run-up to Christmas, Lieutenant Jung's first night shift also falls. Captain Peter Fuchs initially has concerns, as Jung's wife Hella is about to give birth, but he trusts the motivated man to work at the side of Lieutenant Lutz Zimmermann. Jung is a little late starting his shift. He states that his wife thought the birth was about to begin; however, this turned out to be a false alarm . Peter Fuchs nevertheless rushes to Hella Jung after work, who is currently putting together the things for the hospital. She went into labor, but she didn't want to keep her husband from his first night shift. Peter Fuchs accompanies her to the hospital and stays there overnight until Hella gives birth to a healthy boy that morning.

The hoped-for quiet night turns out to be turbulent for Lutz Zimmermann and Lieutenant Jung. As every day, the daily earnings of the department store were picked up by the security guards. In the elevator, however, the light suddenly went out and the elevator got stuck. Two supposed technicians pulled porter Kufahl outside through the ceiling hatch and then took the money bags. Then they fled. The two cashiers find Kufahl dejected not far from the roof hatch. The amount of the stolen income amounts to around 800,000 marks.

There are no traces at the crime scene. The only thing that is certain is that the elevator was put out of action by a specialist with knowledge of modern elevator technology. A sniffer dog follows the perpetrators' path to an empty parking lot. Only Lieutenant Jung noticed that Kufahl had not used his two-way radio. The device can be found in his jacket in the hospital and works perfectly. Jung concludes that the perpetrators slipped a defective device into Kufahl and took it back after it was knocked down. However, since a missing device would have been noticed on the premises, the defective one must still be on site. In fact, Jung finds the well-hidden two-way radio. A short time later, they put porter Gerda Grauschke who wants to get the device out of its hiding place. She is provisionally arrested, but remains silent during interrogation. The third porter, Karl Kaminski, reports during the interrogation of a Barkas who had stood behind the department store for a long time. The day before, Gerda had spoken to a man who secured a parking space for the Barkas. The owner of the barca can be found and says that he loaned the car to friends the day before. They are the brothers Rogan and Bubi Rogalke, two of the three perpetrators. You will be arrested and the money that is well hidden can be found.

The investigators still lack the main culprit, who never presented himself to the brothers either. The investigators know that Gerda knows the man's identity, as they suspect that the two of them are in love. Gerda takes heart pills, and Jung does not consider it out of the question that the perpetrator wanted to get Gerda out of the way, just like Kufahl. His suspicion that one of the pills could have been exchanged for one that was fatal for Gerda is not proven, however. Lutz Zimmermann presented this scenario to Gerdas at the next interrogation, even if he left open the question of whether it was the case. Gerda, however, believes in the suspicion that her alleged boyfriend wanted to poison her and gives the investigators the name: Hans Henske. The investigators arrest him and find the money well hidden in the lampshade.

Peter Fuchs comes to work the next morning. He is horrified that a major robbery has been committed in his absence and is about to rush into the investigation when he learns from Lutz Zimmermann and Lieutenant Jung that the case has already been resolved. Only now does he reflect on his news: During the night, Lieutenant Jung became the father of a boy who is to be named Peter.
