The Pfitzbach or Pfützbach , in the upper reaches Polsambach called, is a good 12 km long, orographic left tributary of the Werra on the western border of the district Schmalkalden-Meiningen for Wartburg district in the west of Thuringia . It rises on the western slope of the pyramidal Pleß in the east of the Salzunger Werrabergland .

The Polsambach initially runs north over the Polsamgrund , which is the border between the two districts mentioned. To the south of Langenfeld , it leaves the mountainous region as well as the outskirts of the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district and from then on meanders exclusively in the Wartburg district in northeastern directions, finally flowing into the Werra on the northeastern edge of Bad Salzungen at the Glussbrücke to Allendorf monastery .
