Poniszowice (German Ponischowitz ) is a village in the municipality of Rudziniec in the Powiat Gliwicki in the Silesian Voivodeship .
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1223. According to the church chronicle of Poniszowice, the place should have existed as early as 1175.
Ponischowitz became Prussian in 1742 with most of Silesia and from 1816 was part of the Tost district (later renamed Tost-Gleiwitz) in the Opole district .
In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 244 voters in Ponischowitz voted to remain with Germany and 239 for membership in Poland. As part of the constituency of Tost-Gleiwitz, Ponischowitz remained in the Weimar Republic .
During the time of National Socialism , place names of Slavic origin were renamed - Ponischowitz was given the name Muldenau OS on February 12, 1936. After the Second World War, the place fell to Poland and was renamed Poniszowice .
From 1950 to 1998 the place was in the Katowice Voivodeship , since 1999 in the Silesian Voivodeship. From 1973 to 1977 Poniszowice was the seat of the rural municipality Poniszowice. In 1977 the place came to the municipality of Rudziniec.
