The place was created in the 13th century at the latest. On November 30, 1260 the village was probably mentioned in a document as "Clchovici", as one of the goods that Duke Wlodizlaus von Opole donated to the Wroclaw Church and took back after an agreement with the bishop. 1295–1305 the place was mentioned in a document as "Clesstovitz" in the Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis ( tithe register of the diocese of Breslau) . It was mentioned as Kliczdorff [iensis] (1614), Kliszcow (1679), Kleschtzau (1746) and Klieschzau (1759).

The place was mentioned in 1783 in the book Entries describing Silesia as Klitschow , belonged to a Herr von Strachwitz and was in the Tost district of the Principality of Opole . At that time he had a Vorwerk , nine and twelve farmers gardeners . In 1865 Klisczow (Klysczau) consisted of a manor and a village. At that time the place had eleven farms, eleven gardeners and nine cottagers, as well as a lordly sub-forestry. The residents were enrolled in Retzitz.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 59 people eligible to vote locally voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 228 for membership of Poland. After the division of Upper Silesia, Klüschau remained with the German Empire . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Tost-Gleiwitz .

In 1945 the formerly German town came under Polish administration and was then attached to the Silesian Voivodeship and renamed the Polish Kleszczów . 1950 the place came to the Voivodeship Katowice. In 1982 the new church was consecrated. In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Gliwicki and the Silesian Voivodeship.
