The place was created in the 13th century at the latest. 1295-1305 three places were mentioned in the Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis ( tithe register of the diocese of Wroclaw ) with the name "Lana". They were differentiated as Lana Virbece, Lana Colende and Lana Stesconis. The places Lona and Lany, which are united today, and Lohnia are assigned to these mentions. The name is derived from the words Lahn (area measure) or fiefdom. During archaeological excavations in the vicinity, finds of the Lausitz culture from the Hallstatt period were found. In 1416 it was mentioned as "Lanaw".

The place was mentioned in 1783 in the book Additions to the Description of Silesia as Lohnia , belonged to a Lord von Strachwitz and was in the Tost district of the Principality of Opole . At that time he had 95 inhabitants, a Vorwerk , a fresh fire, twelve farmers and three gardeners . In 1865, Lohnia consisted of an estate and a village. The estate had a remarkably large sheep farm with 1,300 merino sheep . At that time the place had 16 farms, 14 gardeners and 24 cottages, as well as an American mill with four gears on the Klodnitz . The residents were parish and schooled in Chechlau.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 98 voters locally voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 253 for membership in Poland. After the division of Upper Silesia, Lohnia remained with the German Empire . In 1936 the place was renamed Hubenland in the course of a wave of renaming during the Nazi era . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Tost-Gleiwitz .

In 1945 the formerly German town came under Polish administration and was then attached to the Silesian Voivodeship and renamed the Polish Łany . 1950 the place came to the Voivodeship Katowice. In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Gliwicki and the Silesian Voivodeship. In 2000 the new church was consecrated.
