Pontewitz is a part of the municipality Dobitschen in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia .
location
The Gutshof Pontewitz is located on the southern edge of the Hoppeberg forest , about 800 m east of Dobitschen on county road 534 and not far from state road 1362 . From a geological point of view, the hamlet in the Altenburger-Zeitz loess hill landscape is already in part of the Leipzig lowland bay . South of the hamlet is the Kleine Gerstenbach , a source river of the Gerstenbach .
history
The village was first mentioned in a document in 1336. Pontewitz belonged to the Wettin office of Altenburg , which from the 16th century was under the sovereignty of the following Ernestine duchies due to several divisions during its existence : Duchy of Saxony (1554 to 1572), Duchy of Saxony-Weimar (1572 to 1603), Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg (1603 to 1672), Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg (1672 to 1826). When the Ernestine duchies were reorganized in 1826, the place came back to the duchy of Saxony-Altenburg. After the administrative reform in the duchy, Pontewitz belonged to the eastern district (until 1900) and to the Altenburg district office (from 1900). From 1879 the Altenburg District Court and since 1906 the Meuselwitz District Court were legally responsible for the place. From 1918 onwards, Pontewitz belonged to the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg , which was added to the State of Thuringia in 1920. In 1922 the hamlet came to the Altenburg district .
On July 1, 1950, the agricultural hamlet was incorporated into Dobitschen. During the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, the existing states were dissolved and the districts were redesigned. Thus Pontewitz came as a district of the municipality Dobitschen with the district Schmölln to the district Leipzig , which since 1990 belonged as district Schmölln to Thuringia and in 1994 was added to the district Altenburger Land. At the end of April 2012, 25 people lived in the village.
