The Gerstenbach is a brook in Thuringia and the left tributary of the Pleiße . It belongs to the loess-loam-shaped lowland brooks (type 18).
course
The Gerstenbach rises west of Großbraunshain , a district of Schmölln , flows through the communities Starkenberg , Monstab , Lödla and Rositz , then the northern part of Altenburg and the communities Gerstenberg and Treben . It flows into the Pleiße after about 25 kilometers west of the Serbitz district of Treben .
Catchment area
The catchment area of the Gerstenbach has a size of 172.4 km² and borders on the catchment areas of Sprotte (south), Pleiße (east) and Schnauder (north and west).
Tributaries
The Gerstenbach has three larger tributaries, the Blue Flood , the Erlenbach and the Kleiner Gerstenbach, as well as numerous smaller streams. The largest tributary is the Blue Flood, which with its tributaries Deutscher Bach, Altkirchener Bach, Kleine Blaue Flut and other smaller brooks is itself heavily branched.
