reception

criticism

The e-zine Laut.de rated Rick Ross' debut album with three out of a possible five rating points. From the point of view of the editor Alexander Engelen, Rick Ross delivers “ a simple, but far from boring rap performance. “The single Hustlin lifted the story of the former drug dealer who rose to become a successful rapper to a new level. Engelen summarizes Port of Miami as “ powerful. “For example, the beat to Push It , in which a sample from Scarface is used, is praised. However, the Down South bass in much of the songs is said to be simple. Stylistic exceptions to the album are Cross That Line and the rhythm and blues pieces Get Away , Hit U From the Back and It's My Time .

success

In the first week after the album was released in the United States, Port of Miami sold 187,000 units . This enabled the rapper to reach number 1 in the US album charts.

The first single Hustlin reached number 54 on the singles charts. The second single Push It was also able to position itself in the US charts at number 57.
