reception

criticism

Deeper Than Rap received only two out of five possible evaluation points from the editors of the Laut.de e-zine . The editor Dani Fromm was very disappointed with Ross' third album. Especially after the good ratings for the albums Port of Miami and Trilla , Deeper Than Rap could not live up to expectations. Above all, Fromm criticizes the productions of the songs, which seem half-baked and boring. Without the right instrumentation, the " technical poverty of the simplest end rhymes " and the superficial themes of the album become clear. Positive exceptions are the hookline to Usual Suspects and the pieces Face and In Cold Blood .

success

The album was sold 158,000 times in the first week, which it could reach # 1 on the US album charts. This makes Deeper Than Rap the third album by Rick Ross in a row that was able to place at the top of the charts. In the second week of sales, 51,000 units were sold, so that the sound carrier fell to number four on the album charts.

The single Magnificent reached position 62 on the US singles chart. Maybach Music 2 came in 92nd.
