The Portzbach is a good eight kilometers long watercourse in the Wasgau ( Rhineland-Palatinate ) in southern Palatinate and a left tributary of the Lauter , which is still called Wieslauter here on its upper course .
geography
course
The Portzbach rises at an altitude of 277 m above sea level. NN in Wasgau in the Annweiler Forest on the northeast slope of Eichenbühl ( 320.2 m above sea level ) in the Lochwiesen . It first runs in a southerly direction through a forest meadow in the Gewann Am Steinwoog east of the Eichenbühl and then crosses under the state road 493 . His path now leads along a forest aisle through the forest tub Am Bühlwoog and Am Pfaffenhof past the weekend houses located there. At Bethofwiesen , after he has crossed the B 427 , the Hirschbach coming from the east flows towards him on his left .
The Portzbach leaves the village of Lauterschwan on the left, now turns to the southwest, flows through the wet meadows of the Frauenwoogwiesen and forms the Frauenwoog to the northwest of the Kuhnenkopf . About four hundred meters downstream, it is dammed into a second nameless woog and shortly thereafter flows through the Seehofweiher . He now runs east on Mückenköpfel ( 304.6 m above sea level. NN ) over and then north of Forstwiese on his left side only of the Jungfernwollust and less than a kilometer from the later Finsterbächel fed.
To the south of the Hundstälchen it is reinforced on the left by the Glasbach . The Portzbach now squeezes between the Dörrhalde on the right and the Rolleneck on the left, still crosses the state road 478 and finally flows out at an altitude of 181 m above sea level. NN southeast of Niederschlettenbach directly opposite the part mountain ( 378.3 m above sea level. NN ) from the left in the Wieslauter .
