In 2012 , President Bronisław Komorowski presented them with the Silver Cross of Merit for dealing with the history of Poland .
Concept of the album
With Powstanie Warszawskie, Lao Che created a mixture of a radio play and a concept album . In the original edition from 2005, 10 tracks accompany the listener musically and textually through the Warsaw Uprising .
1) 1939 / Przed Burzą (1939 / Before the Storm)
The first song tells of the last days before the uprising: Under the pressure of the Soviet attack, the German troops in the west are gradually withdrawing. The army headquarters set the start of the uprising on August 1, 1944 at 5:00 p.m. for all AK units. The time is referred to as "Hour W".
2) Godzina W (hour W)
August 1, 1944: Individual cells were discovered by chance and triggered firefights between AK units and German troops. So "Hour W" started earlier than planned.
3) Barykada ( barricade )
First part of August: The Zośka battalion fights heroically, but the rebels are increasingly being pushed back into the old town.
4) Zrzuty (drops)
Mid-August: The first flights of the Western Allies brought weapons, ammunition and supplies to Warsaw. Overall, however, too little, as the Soviet Union did not issue a license to use the airfields. Only the Americans managed to provide a larger delivery.
5) Stare Miasto (old town)
Second half of August: The old town was under constant attacks by artillery , infantry and air strikes. After several days and bitter struggle, the defense of the old town was considered unsuccessful. The army command had the remaining insurgents and civilians evacuated through the sewer system .
6) Przebicie do Śródmieścia (advance to the city center)
August 31: A 50-man Kedyw unit tried to reach the city center . Under the direction of Andrzej Romocki "Morro" , they too managed to reach the rebel barricades in the city center without being noticed .
7) Czerniaków (Czerniaków)
Mid-September: The fighting to maintain the bridgeheads on the western Vistula continues. The Berling Army's attempts to assist the soldiers were largely unsuccessful. After a German counter-offensive, Berling broke off the attack.
8) Hitlerowcy (The Nazis)
Last decade in September: German troops of the 9th Army advance into Mokotów , where intense fighting takes place.
9) Kanały (canals)
Last decade in September: the insurgents defend Czerniaków and the wounded are evacuated through the Mokotów canals . The German troops captured Mokotów, Żoliborz and the city center.
10) Koniec (The End)
Early October: The insurgents capitulate and the Warsaw Uprising ends.
