The data relate to the younger Ruhr-Sieg type

In 1905, a total of 100 passenger locomotives were classified in class P 1 of the Prussian State Railways , which had been procured by the numerous predecessor railways of the Prussian State Railways as well as by the State Railways itself. With one exception, all of them had axle formula 1B. The one exception was the last locomotive in a series of 14 locomotives with the axle formula C, which Vulkan had delivered to the Thuringian Railway in 1873 and 1874 . From 1906 it was numbered P 1 Erfurt 1550.

P 1 (P 2, P 3) Ruhr-Sieg type

In the years 1873–1882, the Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn procured a total of 34 locomotives of the older Ruhr-Sieg type for the Hagen – Siegen line. Three more went to the Saarbrücker Eisenbahn . The locomotives had the axle formula 1'B, as the front running axle could be moved radially in a Bissel frame because it was easier to curve . From 1885 the Ruhr-Sieg-Type was also procured directly from the Prussian State Railways and from 1889 it was modernized and reinforced again. This younger Ruhr-Sieg type, for which a sample sheet was drawn up based on the Prussian standards , had been procured in 56 copies by 1891. In addition, one Ruhr-Sieg-type locomotive was procured for the Weimar-Geraer Bahn and four for the Werra Railway .

In 1905 the locomotives of the Erfurt and Essen divisions were re-designated as P 1 , those of the Elberfeld, Frankfurt and Cassel divisions as P 2 , and the locomotives of the Werra Railway as P 3 . None of the locomotives came to the Deutsche Reichsbahn.

The locomotives initially had no brakes, only the younger Ruhr-Sieg locomotive was fitted with a knee-lever brake between the coupling wheels as standard, later double-acting. The older locomotives were also equipped with it. From 1885, the locomotives received air brakes for the tender and as a train brake.
