The Pride of Hull (German: "Stolz Hulls") is a RoPax ferry registered in the Bahamas for passengers and goods, which runs the 378 km (204 nautical miles ) connection Kingston upon Hull - Rotterdam for P&O Ferries with its sister ship Pride of Rotterdam served.

description

The Pride of Hull is about 215.5 meters long, 31.9 meters wide and has a maximum draft of about 6 meters.

It is powered by four Wärtsilä 9L46C diesel engines with a total output of 37,800 kW. They can accelerate this to a top speed of 22 knots (around 41 km / h).

The Pride of Hull can carry up to 1,360 passengers. It has 3,300 linear loading meters, can accommodate 250 cars and a maximum of 400 truck trailers. Cars and motorcycles enter the ship via a side ramp and are stowed away from the goods area. The truck and container enter a separate loading area via the rear.

history

The keel was laid on March 1st, 1999. The ship was built under hull number 6066. Originally the ship was to be called Pride of Rotterdam , but the name was changed to Pride of Hull before it was launched on April 11, 2001 . The Pride of Hull was handed over to the shipping company P&O North Sea Ferries on November 16, 2001 in Venice , Italy . She was christened on November 30, 2001 by Cherie Blair in Hull and started her service on December 2, 2001 on the Kingston upon Hull - Rotterdam route .

The owner of the Pride of Hull is P&O Ferries and it is managed and operated by its subsidiary P&O North Sea Ferries. It is classified by Lloyd's Register of Shipping . The ship has a gross measurement of 59,925 GT and a carrying capacity of 8,850 tons. The home port of the ship with the callsign C6ZQ4 is Nassau .

As the Pride of Hull and its sister Pride of Rotterdam are too wide to pass through the lock in Hull, Associated British Ports built a new terminal just for these two ferries on the Humber . The construction of the P&O ferry terminal cost around 14.3 million euros.

On December 10, 2008, a fire broke out in the engine room on board the Pride of Hull during the mooring maneuver in Hull, but it was quickly brought under control due to its limited spread.

particularities

With their dimensions and transport capacities, the Pride of Hull and the structurally identical Pride of Rotterdam were the largest RoRo ferries in the world from 2001 to 2004. In 2004 this title fell to the Norwegian Color Fantasy .
