action

The Scandinavian Princess Sophia comes to Berlin for a state visit with her father, King Hugo. Officially, they should not arrive until Saturday, so they have planned three days of free time. To Sophia's chagrin, however, her father immediately throws himself into work. Sophie briefly goes shopping with her bodyguards Olafson and Böglund and goes to the Berlin Zoo . The press has long since noticed that it is in Berlin and is besieging the zoo. TV editor Chris Benthaus, who just failed his superior Betty with a report on the sex life of young people in Berlin, is the only available journalist on the small channel Berlin and is therefore sent to the zoo with a cameraman. Here he sneaks straight into the zoo's feed kitchen, where Sophie is changing after a mishap with a monkey. Chris doesn't recognize her and she spontaneously introduces herself to him as the zookeeper Kim. They talk briefly and he invites them to a party that evening. Then he follows Sophia's tip that the princess is behind the next door. To the mockery of the waiting journalists, he ends up in a monkey cage.

Sophia begins to rebel when her father announces that she has been invited to a party at the Federal President that evening. She insists on her three days off and escapes in a pizza truck. She goes to Chris' party, but he is not happy to see her because she has embarrassed him. Nevertheless, Sophia stays with him, who lives in a flat share with animal rights activists Robert and Karl. The next morning all the newspapers reported not only about Sophia's visit to the zoo, but also about Chris' embarrassing incident in the monkey cage. Outraged, Chris throws Sophia out of the apartment. In the hallway she meets Chris' boss Betty, who Sophia recognizes immediately. With Chris, Betty takes up the chase. Chris catches up with Sophia at the train station and apologizes to her. He offers her to be her companion in Berlin. Both spend the day together, with Chris excusing Betty's constant calls to Sophia with calls to his sister. Since Chris has won Sophia's trust, he succeeds in obtaining approval for his own politics program from the broadcaster Channel Berlin for his exclusive story about the “private princess”. In the evening he secretly films Sophia for the broadcaster, who will soon be searched for in the media. Because the broadcaster is not getting the reports fast enough, Betty appears as Chris' sister in his apartment to push the events forward.

Because Sophia heard on the news that a kidnapping case is now assumed, she calls her father. Your mobile phone is located and Böglund and Olafson appear to pick you up. She escapes with Chris to a Turkish bar and finally escapes undetected. Back in the flat, Robert, Karl and friend Renate plan their regular chicken rescue campaign to draw attention to the grievances in the keeping of chickens by rescuing a chicken from a laying farm. Because Sophia has to cook for the first time in her life, Renate is so bad after dinner that she fails to follow the plan. Under the influence of Betty, who offers to work as a camerawoman for the company, Sophia steps in for Renate and Chris agrees after some hesitation. The chicken liberation succeeds. To celebrate, Betty guides the group into a swimming pool, but Chris intervenes when Betty tries to get Sophia to undress. He interrupts the camera recordings and makes it clear to Sophia that he has known who she is for a long time. Sophia leaves disappointed, but returns when Chris is alone in the swimming pool. She forgives him and they both end up kissing in the water. Chris doesn't know that Betty is secretly filming everything. The next morning, Channel Berlin announces an exclusive broadcast with slippery details from Sophia's love life for the evening and underlines the announcement with pictures of Chris and Sophia. Sophia is upset and goes back to her father. He wants to hold a press conference immediately after the broadcast. Robert and Karl meanwhile terminate their friendship with Chris in the event that he takes the secretly taken pictures on the show in the evening. However, Chris brings a report on Sophia's rescue of the chicken on the show and draws parallels between a caught chicken and the life of the princess in a golden cage. The reactions to the contribution are extremely positive and surprise the broadcaster. At the press conference, King Hugo had to put up with questions about his attitude towards his daughter and her freedom. While he was still answering questions, Sophia managed to flee the house again. She goes to Chris, whom Robert and Karl have taken back into their shared apartment. Both make up and end up kissing in each other's arms.
