Interviews with contemporary witnesses, as well as original image and film documents (e.g. TV reports, private image recordings) are used and the respective original locations are visited. It is about a " detailed description " of the accidents, as evidenced by historical archive material and conversations with contemporary witnesses who have " never been shown in this form ", said Claudia Schreiner, MDR program director for culture and science, in an interview from the 2003 on the series - in addition to other ARD broadcasters, the MDR is also responsible for some episodes.
