The Prva liga SR Yugoslavije 1995/96 was the fourth season of the top division of the BR Yugoslavia .

Defending champion was FK Red Star Belgrade .

mode

The season was conducted in a two-tier format. The 20 clubs started in two groups of 10 teams each.

The first six teams of the 1A league and the best four of the 1B league play the championship and international starting places and two relegated teams in the championship round. Each team played against each other twice in a round trip. The teams received bonus points depending on their position in the table and the number of points.

The last four teams in the 1A league and the last six in the 1B league played six more relegated teams in the relegation round, as the league was reduced to twelve clubs.
