Ptycholoma lecheana is a butterfly ( moth ) from the family of Winder (Tortricidae).

features

Ptycholoma lecheana has a wingspan of 16-20 mm. The front wings have a brownish basic color with a strong ocher yellow pollination. They have a characteristic pattern consisting of metallic silver shimmering scales. In contrast to the females, the males have a dark costal fold on the inner front edge of the forewings. The brownish hind wings have no markings. The young caterpillars are green with a black head capsule and a black neck shield. In the adult caterpillars, the head capsule and the neck shield are light brown, the upper side of the more mature caterpillars is usually dark green to gray in color. The black doll has a length of about 8 mm.

Ptycholoma lecheana is native to the Palearctic . The species is found in much of Europe, including the British Isles . In the east, the occurrence extends across Asia Minor to the Far East of Asia (China, Korea, Japan, Russian Pacific region).

Way of life

The moths fly in Western Europe from mid-May to July. In China, the flight time lasts from late May to early June. The caterpillars of Ptycholoma lecheana feed on the leaves of various trees and bushes. These include fir , maple , hawthorn , beech , ash , larch , apple , spruce , poplar , bird cherry , sour cherry , common bird cherry , blackthorn , oak , blackcurrant , willow , rowan , linden and field elm . They usually stay in coiled rolls of leaves. To overwinter, the caterpillars weave a web in a gap in the bark of their host tree. The pupation takes place in the spring, usually in a cocoon on the underside of leaves of its host tree.
