Quarantine 2: Terminal (Original title: Quarantine 2: Terminal ) is an American horror film from 2011. The film is a sequel to the film Quarantine from 2008.
action
The two flight attendants Jenny and Shilah are looking forward to a routine flight in a small plane that is scheduled to take off from Los Angeles Airport . But all of a sudden a stout passenger runs from the back row of seats, screaming wildly, and tries to get into the cockpit . The other passengers manage to overwhelm him with great difficulty. He remains motionless in front of the cockpit door and is fixed by the hands. The FAA instructs the pilots to make an emergency landing at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas . You have to cross a bad weather front, so that Jenny and Shilah carry the massive passenger into a seat and want to protect it with a seat belt. Suddenly he wakes up and bites Shilah in her face. He is overwhelmed again while a fellow traveler trained as a paramedic provides first aid .
After landing, the aircraft is initially not assigned a boarding bridge . The captain is amazed, heads for a vacant bridge on his own responsibility and is met by an airport employee, Ed Ramirez. The employee is surprised that he initially has no radio contact with the tower and wants to accompany the passengers to the airport terminal . But the tower has cordoned off the area and locked all electronically secured doors so that they cannot leave their section. At the airport, it turns out that the sick person carries an extremely contagious virus and has infected other passengers. Little by little the virus spreads. The sick mutate into beasts that attack and bite other, still healthy people. This is how the virus is transmitted and you are infected too. The entire terminal is being quarantined by state authorities. The airport employee remembers an underground tunnel that led from the terminal to an extension that has not yet been completed. The group decides to look for this tunnel, but is pursued by the already mutated beasts and gradually decimated.
It turns out that passenger Henry is a member of a secret state group that has already exposed the virus in Los Angeles. Now it turns out that the government wants to test an antidote on the survivors. But the different variants of the antidote turn out to be ineffective. All those affected continue to mutate, including Henry, who believed he was safe. In the end, only Jenny and George manage to get into the tunnel. But Jenny is already infected and George manages to get out at the last second through a narrow opening closed with a grille. He sees himself in freedom and security. In the last scene, however, you can see the also infected cat of a fellow traveler sneaking out of the tunnel towards Las Vegas.

reception
The film received positive reviews overall. At Rotten Tomatoes , the film received a positive rating from 86 percent of reviewers .
“The setting of 'Quarantine 2' does not only have advantages. For the viewer it is much more confusing than the apartment complex in the first part. The individual corners of the hall are therefore far less threatening than the individual rooms of the house because they simply appear much more arbitrary. This is also why the first directorial work by John Pogue [...] turns out to be a not particularly exciting standard variant of the infection horror, but at least it has a refreshing effect [...]. "
"Exciting US remake of the sequel to a Spanish horror film that clearly differs from the original and scores with its own ideas."
Awards
The film was nominated for the Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel Award in 2012 in the Best Sound Editing category.

- The origin of the virus is examined in more detail here and also reveals that it was bred.
- The production was inspired by the Spanish horror film [● REC 2] , although the plots are different.
- Although the plot is different, there is a parallel at the beginning: After sneezing, one of the pilots explains that he was probably infected with his dog and that the animals in the neighborhood have all been going crazy lately. In [● REC 2] it comes to the veterinarian of the dog in [● REC] has infected the little girl and infected the doctor in the treatment.
