Quarta (potato)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quarta

Quarta is a medium early, mainly waxy potato variety . It was bred by Kartoffelzucht Böhm GmbH & Co. KG, Lüneburg, and approved by the Bundessortenamt in 1979 . A special feature are their "red eyes" with an otherwise yellow skin. Their flesh is deep yellow.

The tubers are set comparatively early, so that irrigation at this point in time will result in higher yields. Since the roots are relatively high, they must be deposited around 3 cm deeper than normal. To avoid green tubers, make sure there is loose soil under the planter and a good dam structure . With 75 cm rows, a number of plants of around 46,000 per hectare is recommended. There is resistance to the nematode species Ro 1 and 4.

The variety was approved in Germany in 1979. A cross of Quarta with Bintje resulted in the variety Ditta , the cross of Quarta x Semlo resulted in the variety Agria .
