Quatre in Toulouse ( QIT ) is a ska band that was founded in 1992 in Bern , Switzerland .

Band history

In the first few years after its founding in 1992, the band mainly played cover versions of well-known ska bands such as the Skatalites or The Specials . During this time, the sphere of activity was limited to the area around Bern. After separating from her singer, QiT broke new ground and increasingly played instrumental pieces . After various street appearances and the recording of some songs in 1997, the band played in several cities in Switzerland. In 1999, the band's songs were recorded for the first time in two ska samplers: in the compilation “Skampler 4” and in “Skala Family”. After recording their first CD (“Ready for Skallenium”) in the same year, the band was given the opportunity to appear as the opening act for groups such as The Busters , The Toasters or the New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble .

In 2002 the group released their second album entitled “Four Legs”, on which various Skatalites participated in a piece. In 2003, the band accepted an invitation to tour Russia, which included Moscow , Briansk and Smolensk . In 2006 the third CD, called “3”, was christened. The CD is the result of recordings in our own recording studio.

Music genre

QiT appear in concert halls , at open airs , but also on the street or at smaller events. Your program consists of your own compositions and some cover versions. Her own musical style is fed by the rich fund of ska and is influenced by rock steady , reggae and jazz . The band gives the compact wind section plenty of space . The lyrics of the original compositions are mostly sung in Bern German , which is rather unusual in the Ska scene. The music should animate the audience to dance and be fun.
