The Río Baker is a river in the Aisén region in the Chilean part of Patagonia . It is Chile's river with the highest water flow.

Río Baker arises from the outflow of Lake Bertrand , which in turn is fed by the outflow of Lake General Carrera via a short connection piece (called La Pasarela) .

The river runs southeast of the Northern Patagonian Ice Field and flows into the Gulf of Penas , a bay in the Pacific , near the settlement of Caleta Tortel .

There are plans by the electricity company ENDESA (Chile) to build a hydropower plant with 2400 MW on the Rio Baker . This is the HidroAysén project .
