course

The Río Solacama has its origin on the slopes of the Thanta Quepi, a 4265 m high mountain that is about 55 kilometers east of La Paz . It flows over its entire length of 43 km in a north-easterly direction and overcomes an altitude difference of around 3240 meters. After about 25 kilometers it reaches inhabited area and is crossed by the Ruta 25 , flows past Ocobaya and Tajma and finally flows into the Río Tamampaya . Its entire route is in the Sud Yungas province . The valleys in this region are very steep, which is why all the villages are on ridges and slopes above the rivers.
