history

Rödlitz was originally created as a forest hoof village. Historians do not agree on the first documentary mention of Rödlitz. Some believe that Rödlitz was first mentioned as Redlicz in 1286 . Others are of the opinion that Rödlitz was named in a document in 1460.

The most important landmark of this place is the Rödlitzbachtal railway viaduct, which was opened in 1879. It is part of the Stollberg – St. Egidien . This line ran from St. Egidien to Stollberg . The Hohndorf-Oelsnitz hard coal district was opened up with this railway line. Today the City-Bahn runs on this route . In 1994 Rödlitz was incorporated into Lichtenstein.

The Rödlitzer village festival has been held every year in the first week of June since 2002.
