RJ Miller (born April 17, 1984 in Machias , Maine ) is an American modern jazz musician ( drums , synthesizer , composition ).

Live and act

Miller began playing drums at the age of eleven. As a teenager he attended a jazz camp in Farmington, Maine . After graduating from high school, he moved to New York in 2002, where he studied jazz at the New School for a year . Then he worked with musicians like Bill McHenry , Eivind Opsvik , Rebecca Martin , Reid Anderson , Ethan Iverson , Mike Kanan, John McNeil , Ben Monder , Chris Higgins , Matt Penman or Larry Grenadier . In 2014 he was invited to the SWR New Jazz Meeting with Melissa Aldana , Jakob Bro , Kirk Knuffke , Joe Martin and Jacob Sacks .

On his debut album, released in 2013, he fused jazz with the electronic minimalism of ambient . He can also be heard on albums with Eivind Opsvik, Jorge Rossy , Albert Sanz, Robert Stillman, Bill McHenry ( Ben Entrada La Nit ) and Luke Temple.
