Radziechowy is a village in the Radziechowy-Wieprz municipality in the Żywiecki powiat in southern Poland . About 4,500 people live here.
geography
Radziechowy is located in the Saybuscher Basin ( Kotlina Żywiecka ) on the left bank of the Soła River under the Silesian Beskids (in the west).
history
The place could have been founded as early as the first half of the 14th century, with Lipowa, perhaps, by the Radwanite family . In 1390 the Roman Catholic parish was established.
Politically, the village originally belonged to the Duchy of Auschwitz , the feudal lordship of the Kingdom of Bohemia . The area of Żywiec with the village was detached from the Duchy of Auschwitz in the 1450s under unexplained circumstances. It finally belonged to Poland from 1465.
When Poland was first partitioned , Radziechowy became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804).
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Radziechowy came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . It then belonged to the district of Saybusch in the administrative district of Katowice in the province of Silesia (since 1941 province of Upper Silesia ).
From 1975 to 1998 Radziechowy belonged to the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
Attractions
Martin's Church (parish church) and the rarely preserved wooden houses on Ulica Główna and Ulica Świętego Marcina are worth seeing.
On the neighboring mountain Matyska there is a cross, erected in the anniversary year 2000 , to which a Way of the Cross ( Golgota of the Beskids ) leads up.
