Rainer Grün (born March 31, 1950 in Saarbrücken ; † July 8, 2010 in Freisen - Oberkirchen ) was a German politician ( CDU ). From 1999 to 2009 he was State Secretary in the Saarland Ministry for the Environment (MfU).

Life

Rainer Grün grew up in the Saarbrücken district of Gersweiler and in Kirkel . After graduating from high school at Saarpfalz-Gymnasium in Homburg , Grün studied law at Saarland University until 1975 . He passed his first state law examination in 1975, the second in 1977. He was appointed court trainee in 1975, and two years later he was appointed assessor in the criminal service of North Rhine-Westphalia . He then taught at the Police Leadership Academy in Hiltrup . In 1976 he switched to the Saarland State Service. After a phase as a department head in the Saarpfalz district , he was appointed to the government council in the Saarland Ministry of the Interior in 1981. In 1983 he also took on the position of lecturer at the Saarland University of Applied Sciences . From 1992 to 1999, Grün was mayor of the Bernkastel-Kues community . From 1999 to November 2009 he was State Secretary in the Saarland Ministry for the Environment. In this role he took a. Rainer Grün had been a member of the CDU since 1979 and was also active in local politics. From 2002 to March 2010 he was chairman of the CDU community association of his community in Namborn . In June 2009 he ran as a CDU candidate for the office of director of the Saarbrücken regional association, but could not prevail in the runoff election against Peter Gillo (SPD).

Grün died a year later after falling from a bridge in the Oberkirchen district of Freisen. Rainer Grün lived in Furschweiler , a district of the northern Saarland community of Namborn . He was married and had two sons and a daughter.
