Rainer Prachtl

Rainer Prachtl (born January 15, 1950 in Neubrandenburg ) is a German economist and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending school, Prachtl completed an apprenticeship as a chef from 1966 to 1968. He passed the Abitur in 1968 at evening school and in 1971 began studying economics at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management , which he completed in 1975 with the examination for a degree in economics . He then worked as a research assistant and specialist director in domestic trade until 1978. From 1978 to 1990 he was head of training at Caritas Mecklenburg at the home economics school in Neustrelitz .

Political party

Prachtl joined the CDU in December 1989. He is also a member of the Christian Democratic Workforce (CDA).

MP

After the political change in the GDR , Prachtl was elected to the council of the city of Neubrandenburg and was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group there from May to October 1990. From 1990 to 2006 he was a member of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , where he was chairman of the petitions committee in 2002/03 and deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group from 2003 to 2006. From October 26, 1990 to October 26, 1998 he was President of the State Parliament . In the state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 1990 and 1994 , he was directly elected in the Neubrandenburg I state constituency, and later on the state list.

In 2009 he was a member of the 13th Federal Assembly .

Public offices

From June to October 1990, Prachtl was deputy government representative for the Neubrandenburg district, where he was responsible for regional and municipal affairs.
