The Ochakiv Rajon (Ukrainian Очаківський район / Otschakiwskyj rajon ; Russian Очаковский район / Ochakovsky rajon ) is an administrative unit in the Mykolaiv Oblast in southern Ukraine . The center of the Rajons is the city of Ochakiv , but this is not itself part of the Rajons area, but is completely enclosed by it.
geography
The Raion is located in the south of the Mykolaiv Oblast , it borders in the north with the Raion Mykolaiv , in the east with the Raion Vitovka , in the southeast with the Raion Hola Prystan (in the Oblast Kherson ), in the south with the Black Sea or the Dnieper Bug-Liman and to the west on the Berezanka district .
The Rajon is bordered by the Beresan Liman to the west and the Bug Liman to the east. The area is very flat with altitudes between 10 and 50 meters and is characterized by the Black Sea lowlands.
In the southeast on the other side of the Dnieper Bug Liman is the Kinburn Peninsula , which is part of the Rajons area. The island of Berezan belongs entirely to the Rajon .
history
The Rajon was created in 1923 and has existed in its current form since January 4, 1965. Since 1991 it has been part of today's Ukraine.
Administrative structure
At the local level, the Rajon is divided into 11 district councils, each of which is subordinate to individual localities.
The administrative area includes 30 individual villages.
