The Saratovsky rajon ( Russian Саратовский район ) is a Rajon in the Russian Oblast of Saratov . The administrative center is the independent city of Saratov , which is also the capital of Saratov Oblast.
Geography and nature
Geographical location
The Saratowski rajon is centrally located in the Saratov Oblast and surrounds the city of Saratow in a semicircle. The Rajon is located on the western bank of the Volga in the ridges of the Volga plateau . The slopes of the hills are heavily forested.

The Rajon is divided into two municipalities around urban-type settlements and ten rural communities with a total of 77 villages. The largest localities (as of 2006) within the Rajon are:
- Sokolowy (Соколовый) 6,518 inhabitants (urban-type settlement)
- Krasny Oktjabr (Красный Октябрь) 3,335 inhabitants (urban-type settlement)
- Krasny Tekstilschtschik (Красный Текстильщик) 3,342 inhabitants (settlement, until 2012 urban-type settlement)
- Alexandrowka (Александровка)
- Dybki (Дубки) 3,780 inhabitants
- Raskowo (Расково) 1,930 inhabitants
- Tarchany (Тарханы)
The administrative center of the Rajon, the city of Saratov (Саратов) with over 800,000 inhabitants, does not itself belong to the Rajon, but forms an independent urban district .
Economy and Infrastructure

In the Rajon there are various raw material deposits that have been developed. This applies to the production of oil , natural gas and various building materials. There are companies from the textile and steel industries.
Agriculture focuses on intensive animal husbandry , poultry husbandry and the cultivation of cereals, sunflowers and various vegetables and fruits.
