The Raketa Peninsula ( English ; Russian Полуостров Ракета Poluostrow Raketa , German 'rocket peninsula' ) is a 4.5 km long and 1.5 km wide peninsula on the Knox coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland . It is located 13km north east of the High Jump archipelago belonging Thomas Island and 8 km west of Remenchus glacier north of the Bunger Hills . It is mostly flat apart from a large number of small hills up to 20 m high . Its highest point is 65 m .
Scientists from a Soviet Antarctic expedition mapped and named it in 1956. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia translated the name into English.
