Ralph Blum

Ralph Henriques Blum II (born May 27, 1932 in Los Angeles ; died in March 2016 in Maui , Hawaii ) was an American writer who wrote several novels and several books about prophecy with runes .

Life

Blum, who was also involved in drug research at the time, published the novel The Simultaneous Man in 1970 , in which a scientist uses drugs and brainwashing to transfer his experiences to a test subject, but thereby creates a doppelganger who becomes an enemy and persecutor of the original person becomes.

This remained his only SF novel. In the following years he turned to esoteric and borderline scientific topics. In 1983 he published a book on the use of the Germanic runes as oracles . This and several follow-up works on the same topic were very successful and have appeared in numerous editions and in (also German) translations.

For Invasion of the Prostate Snatchers , a non-fiction book about the problems of treating prostate cancer , he received the gold medal of the 2011 Nautilus Book Awards in the Investigative Reporting category .
