Ramón Torrella Cascante (born April 30, 1923 in Olesa de Montserrat , † April 22, 2004 in Tarragona ) was Archbishop of Tarragona .

Life

Ramón Torrella Cascante was ordained a priest on July 25, 1953 .

Paul VI appointed him on October 22, 1968 auxiliary bishop in Barcelona and titular bishop of Minervium . The apostolic nuncio in Spain , Luigi Dadaglio , consecrated him bishop on December 14 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Marcelo González Martín , Archbishop of Barcelona , and Gregorio Modrego y Casaus , Old Archbishop of Barcelona .

The Pope appointed him on November 6, 1970. Vice President of the Pontifical Council for the Laity and for justice and peace . On March 6, 1974, he resigned from the office of Vice-President of the Pontifical Council for the Laity. On December 20, 1975, he was appointed Vice-President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity . On April 11, 1983, he was appointed Archbishop of Tarragona. John Paul II accepted his retirement on February 20, 1997.
