course

The Raná rises in the north of the Saar Mountains ( Žďárské vrchy ) on the Dědovský Kopec. Its source is on the western outskirts of Dědová . The stream initially flows to the west, but on its upper reaches it takes a northerly direction and flows west of Kladno between the Čertovina (652 mnm) and the Boroviny (629 mnm) through a wooded valley.

The villages Vojtěchov , Hyvel, Raná and Oldřetice stretch along the central reaches of the Raná . The creek is bridged twice by the Havlíčkův Brod – Pardubice railway in Vojtěchov and Oldřetice .

The lower course of the brook leads in the Skutečská pahorkatina ( Skutscher hill country ) through the village Radčice , where it is crossed by the railway line Svitavy – Žďárec u Skutče . After 9.2 km take the Raná joins Žďárec u Skutče in Žejbro . Its catchment area covers 19.8 km².
