Randal Corsen (born August 13, 1972 in Curaçao , Netherlands Antilles ) is a Dutch jazz pianist and composer.

The great-grandson of the poet and musician Joseph Sickman Corsen studied at the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg with Willem Kühne and Frans van der Tak until 1997 . In 1996 he founded the group Cross Currents , with which he won the Oranjeboom Jazz Competition in Breda the following year and recorded the albums Mixed Emotions (1997) and Sunú (1999).

He has worked with musicians such as David Sánchez , Denise Jannah , Ronald Snijders , Roy Hargrove , Ignacio Berroa , Orestes Vilató , Lucas van Merwijk and the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. As a composer he worked a. a. for Izaline Calister , Tania Kross , the Latin-Jazz quintet Bye-ya! , Gerardo Rosales and Martin Verdonk . He also composed and produced the music for the film Zuleika (2003) from the Antilles.

After the dissolution of the Cross Currents in 2002, Corsen founded the group Tumbábo in 2004 , in addition to leading trio, quartet and quintet formations. In 2004 he received the highest award from the Asosashon di Musiko Korsou , the music association of Curaçao, and received the Edison Jazz Award for the album Evolushon (2003) . He teaches at the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg and at the Conservatory in Amsterdam .
