The Rastenburger SV 08 was a German sports club from the East Prussian town of Rastenburg , today Kętrzyn.
history
The Rastenburger SV was founded on July 15, 1908. In 1934 the club merged with VfL 1923 Rastenburg and was henceforth called Rastenburger SV 08 . After the Second World War, Rastenburg, which was part of the German Empire, was annexed by the Soviet Union . The Rastenburger SV 08 was - like all other German clubs and institutions - forcibly dissolved.
Soccer
Shortly after its foundation, the Rastenburger SV appeared nationwide. In the 1910/11 season the club was able to win the district league Rastenburg / Lyk and thus qualified for the Baltic football championship. In this, however, the Rastenburg retired in the elimination round after a clear 0:12 defeat against SV Allenstein . For the Baltic football championship in 1912/13 Rastenburg qualified again as champions of the district league Rastenburg, but again SV Allenstein was too strong. This time the Rastenburg lost 4-0 in the elimination round. In 1922/23 the club reached the East Prussian finals, which they finished in third place out of four qualified teams. In 1925/26 there was a uniform upper league in East Prussia, for which Rastenburg also qualified, but the team had to relegate from this league in the first season. The recovery succeeded in the 1927/28 season , in which, however, only the last place and thus the direct relegation jumped out again. For the 1930/31 season , the district league East Prussia was divided into three smaller leagues, Rastenburg played from then on in the district league South. In three consecutive seasons, the club was able to achieve second place in this district league, which was enough to advance. In the subsequent East Prussian football championship, however, Rastenburg had no chance.
With second place in the District League South 1932/33 , the Rastenburger SV qualified for the newly created Gauliga East Prussia . Although the club was group last in group B in the first Gauliga season in 1933/34 , it escaped relegation because the group penultimate FC Preußen Gumbinnen had used a player who was not eligible to play and was thus declared relegated at the green table . Midfield placements were achieved in the coming seasons. After the 1937/38 season , the Gauliga was reduced from 28 to ten participating teams. In the Allenstein district, Rastenburg was only sixth and therefore did not qualify for the Gauliga next year, but was relegated to the second-rate district league. The club did not manage to rise again until 1945.
ice Hockey
The VfL Rastenburg took in 1930 at the German Ice Hockey Championship in part. In a group with SC Brandenburg Berlin and SC Riessersee, however, the Rastenburg retired without a win. Also in 1933 Rastenburg qualified as a Baltic representative for the ice hockey championship and retired after a 2-0 defeat against SC Riessersee . In 1934 , both VfL Rastenburg and Rastenburger SC were qualified for the championship. Both teams survived the preliminary round, but were eliminated in the quarter-finals. After the merger of the two clubs, only the Rastenburger SV 08 competed in ice hockey . In 1935 , the club qualified for the group stage and was tied with SC Riessersee in the end , so a play-off was necessary. This lost the Rastenburg with 0: 1 after extra time and thus just missed the final of the German ice hockey championship . In 1936 the club was eliminated in the quarter-finals against SC Brandenburg Berlin . In 1937 the Rastenburg team reached second place in a group with the SC Riessersee , the SC Brandenburg Berlin and the EHC Crimmitschau , which was not enough to advance. Also in 1938 , 1939 and 1940 Rastenburg qualified as a Baltic representative for the German championship, but was eliminated in the group stage. In 1942 , the club formed a war game community in ice hockey with VfK Königsberg and also reached the group stage. 1943 was the last time he qualified for the German ice hockey championship. In the preliminary round, Rastenburg was eliminated 0: 5 against the Berlin ice skating club .
Some of the ice hockey players of VfL Rastenburg who had fled from East Prussia founded the ice hockey department at VfL Bad Nauheim (today EC Bad Nauheim ).
