Rayososaurus is a genus of sauropod dinosaur from the Lower Cretaceous South America. There were fossils of an individual in the Rayoso lineup from the Apt-stage in the Argentine part of Patagonia salvaged and 1995 by Jose Fernando Bonaparte scientifically described are. The type species is Rayososaurus agrionensis . In1996,Calvo and Salgado still regard Rayososaurus as a nomen dubium , i.e. as a genus that cannot be assigned.

Fossil Rayososaurus is occupied only with a shoulder blade , a femur and part of the fibula . A fully grown specimen reached an estimated length of 6 meters and a weight of 6 tons. The shape of the shoulder blade shows Rayososaurus as Rebbachisauriden and thus as a sauropod. According to the plan of this group, it had a small head and a long neck and tail. Like all sauropods, it was a herbivore and moved quadruped , i.e. on four legs.

The Rebbachisaurus fossils found in Africa are almost identical to those of Rayososaurus . This is interpreted as evidence of the existence of a land bridge between Africa and South America during the Cretaceous . One of the two species then evolved allopatricically from the other when it migrated to a new land mass.
