Reardan is a small town ( Town ) in Lincoln County in the state of Washington in the United States . At the United States Census 2010 , Reardan had 571 residents.
history
Founded in 1882 and parceled out in 1889, Reardan was named after the engineer for the Central Washington Railroad CF Reardan. The city was officially recognized as a local authority on April 14, 1903.
The city's primary, middle and high schools are part of the Reardan-Edwall School District, which covers more than 930 square kilometers in Lincoln and Spokane Counties. The swampy north of the city, called Audubon Lake, is known to ornithologists as an important resting place on the migration routes in the Pacific Northwest and offers public facilities for observation. A Hutterite colony settled in the area in 1961.
For over fifty years, Mule Days have been held on the first Saturday in June; they offer a Kiddie Parade, Main Parade, entertainment and games for children in the park, a pre-high school basketball tournament, food and craft stalls in the park, a community BBQ, a beer garden, and the Mule Days Dance.

According to the 2010 census , Reardan had 571 residents, 240 households and 160 families. The population density was 449.9 per km ². There were 255 housing units at a mean density of 200.9 / km².
The population was 92.5% white , 0.5% African-American , 4.7% Native American , 0.4% Asian , and 1.9% two or more "races" . Hispanics or Latinos of "any race" made up 2.5% of the population.
Of the 240 households, 30% had children under the age of 18, 49.6% were run by married couples living together , 13.8% by single mothers and 3.3% by single fathers; 33.3% were non-families. 29.2% of the households were singles and 10.9% were single people over 65 years of age. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.88 people.
The median age in the city was 43.2 years. 24.7% of the population were under 18, 5.5% between 18 and 24, 21.6% between 25 and 44, 32.6% between 45 and 64 and 15.8 65 years or older. 47.3% of the population were men and 52.7% women.

As of the 2000 census , Reardan had 608 residents, 227 households and 174 families. The population density was 499.5 / km². There were 242 housing units at an average density of 198.8 per km².
The population consisted of 93.91% white , 0.16% African American , 2.3% Indian , 0.66% Pacific islander , 0.16% other "races" and 2 , 8% from two or more “races” . Hispanics or Latinos of "any race" made up 1.32% of the population.
Of the 227 households, 33.9% had children under the age of 18, 59.5% were run by married couples living together, and 11.9% by single mothers; 23.3% were non-families. 21.6% of households were singles and 6.2% were single people over 65 years of age. The average household size was 2.68 and the average family size was 3.06.

Famous indigenous American writer Sherman Alexie attended Reardan High School, which was featured in some of his short stories as well as in his 2007 novel for young adults The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian (Eng. Joe E. Mann was born in Reardan on July 8, 1922, fell on September 19, 1944 in Best (Netherlands) ; he was a holder of the Medal of Honor in World War II. He served as Private First Class (PFC) in the 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division.
After Colfax and Ritzville , the location is one of Washington's most notorious speed cameras.
