The Reformed Church in Martina in the Lower Engadine on the border with Vorarlberg is an Evangelical - Reformed church under the monument of the canton of Grisons .

History and equipment

The church was only built in 1707 after the Graubünden turmoil had subsided and the denominational situation had stabilized so that the Reformed denomination in the Lower Engadine after the devastation of the villages in the border area to the Habsburg Monarchy, which was active against the Reformation, and after the years of prohibition and the expulsion of all pastors had a future again.

The church tower is a campanile with an onion helmet , the nave is covered by a gable roof. The interior of the church, in a Baroque style, shows a composition of a pulpit without a sound cover to the left of the choir and an organ to the right, both of which refer to the central baptismal table on which the Lord's Supper is celebrated. On the arch between the choir and the ship is the first request of Our Father's prayer "Fat sonch vegna teis nom" ( Rhaeto-Romanic in the idiom Vallader for "hallowed be your name").

Church organization

For decades Martina formed a parish with Tschlin , where the parsonage is located, and Strada and, at the beginning of the 21st century, a pastoral community with Ramosch . A merged parish of Valsot has existed since January 1, 2014 . Within the Evangelical Reformed Regional Church of Graubünden , Valsot belongs to the Colloquium VIII Engiadina Bassa - Val Müstair .
